Decentralising Creation and Curation with Protein Agency for Dirty Words #4 [COMMUNITY] report

Client: Protein, a London & Amsterdam based brand consultancy. As the Producer of Dirty Words #4 [COMMUNITY] report, I navigated the partnership between Protein Agency and Protein Community in an insightful exploration of collaborative research and collective creation. The project aimed to decentralize the creation and curation process of creating an insight report, challenging existing methodologies to facilitate mutual discoveries. This new project united the collective intelligence of our incredible Protein Community members with the extensive experience and knowledge of Protein Agency.


Project Overview

Season 5 at our Protein Community marked a collaboration as the Protein Agency commissioned the Protein Community Team for a semi-decentral take on collaborative research and mutual creation. The mission was to decentralize the insight report creation process, fostering mutual discoveries "in the open" via existing channels and platforms such as Discord and Miro. The primary objective was to produce the fourth issue of the renowned DIRTY WORDS reports, delving into the intricate topic of 'COMMUNITY.'

Protein's core team, Protein Agency team, and Protein Community members embarked on an experimental process over three months. Through co-created, co-ideated, and co-research and weekly online sessions, we explored the spaces where IRL and URL communities thrive, the role of community in our identities, economic opportunities and challenges of running a community, and the implications for brands engaging with communities.


My Accomplishments
  1. NFT Campaign Success: Launched an NFT campaign that sold 100 NFTs, providing exclusive access to the report and income to be split among contributors

  2. Budget Management: I managed a tight $10,000 budget to compensate researchers, the branding and design of the report as well as research participants

  3. Team Coordination: Oversaw a team of 10 individuals, including researchers, designers, project managers, and consultants

  4. Partnership Management: Successfully orchestrated a partnership with Protein Agency, leveraging their extensive experience in republishing reports.

  5. Community Management: I was also the Community Manager during the whole process, attending to community members as well as organizing community events.

Conclusion

As the producer of Dirty Words #4 [COMMUNITY] report, I orchestrated a unique collaboration that blurred the lines between Protein Agency and Protein Community, challenging conventional approaches to research and creation. This venture sought to intertwine the brilliance of our community with the wealth of knowledge from Protein Agency. The production of this report not only demonstrates my skills in steering projects, leading teams, and managing partnerships but also showcases my adeptness in navigating cutting-edge technologies and remote content creation. Also, the success of the NFT campaign, shrewd budget management, and seamless remote team coordination not only highlight the project's distinctive accomplishments but also emphasize its impact at the nexus of community, technology, and collective sense-making.
